MOUNT AND TRIPOD
EQ5 mount with stainless steel tripod.
(upgraded from aluminum tripod)
Standard features of the EQ5 mount include a built-in holder
for polar scope, a latitude adjuster with micrometer scale,
an azimuth polar-alignment adjuster, aluminum setting
circles, large manual slow-motion tracking controls on RA
and DEC, and a bubble level. The proposed strong and rigid
field tripod is remarkably stable with adjustable height,
incorporating 1.5"-diameter steel tripod legs. The lowest
possible height with the tripod is 70cm and the maximum
extendable height with the tripod is 121cm. |

Sky-Watcher
DOBSONIANS
The Sky-Watcher
Dobsonian Telescopes includes 153mm/1200mm (6"),
203mm/1200mm (8") and 254mm/1200mm (10") Newtonian-based
models. All models have a "paraboloidal" primary mirror to
eliminate spherical aberration and a four-arm, secondary-
mirror bracket with fine supports (0.5mm thick), to reduce
diffraction spikes and light loss. In addition, all models
include a 2" focuser with a 1.25" adapter, allowing the use
of either eyepiece size. The 203mm/1200mm (8") and
254mm/1200mm (10") models also include the new feature-tension
control handle.
(203MM/1200MM model shown here).
TENSION CONTROL HANDLE
(United States Patent No. 6,940,642)
The secret of the design is to correctly balance the optical
tube with special designed handles on the base. The design
adds enough friction and tension to allow the tube to move
easily when nudged but to stay in position when not. Users
can easily add or reduce tension by turning on the handle.
This feature solves the common balance problem found on many
Dobsonians. Available on all Dobsonian models.
PYREX GLASS ON THE 10"
The Sky-Watcher 10” Dobsonian features a primary mirror made
of Pyrex glass. Because of its very low coefficient of
thermal expansion, Pyrex glass is less affected by changing
temperatures. This greatly reduces the cooling time of a
telescope larger than 8” in dameter without using an extra
fan. The great stability of this low expansion glass ensures
high quality images. It is also substantially more resistant
to scratching then plate glass. Available on 254mm/120mm
(10") only

DOB 8” 10" and 12" COLLAPSIBLE
A COLLAPSIBLE TRUSS-TUBE DOBSONIAN DESIGN THAT REQUIRES NO REASSEMBLY
--THE ULTIMATE CONVENIENCE!
SkyWatcher does it again. An old favorite gets a complete
facelift with new features and upgraded components!
The venerable Dobsonian reflector design has recently undergone
some important upgrades and improvements: SkyWatcher is pleased to
introduce the all-new Collapsible Dobsonian complete with Crayford
focuser – the ultimate in large aperture portability and
performance.
This elegant truss tube design was carefully engineered to
combine ease of use, extreme portability and consistent performance
in an affordable package. Unlike other truss tube designs, the
SkyWatcher Collapsible Dobsonian does not need to be disassembled
between uses. It transports as two compact pieces that can be
assembled and ready to use in just seconds! It is easy to collimate
once set up, and it holds its collimation throughout the evening!
The bearing system has been redesigned as well. The new
SkyWatcher Collapsible Dobsonians feature buttery smooth azimuth
bearings. Even the twelve-inch model can be rotated with just the
push of a finger. Like our traditional Dobsonians, the new
Collapsible Dobsonians feature SkyWatcher’s patented tension
adjustment control on the altitude bearings. This eliminates the
need and added cost of clumsy counterweight systems to balance the
telescope.
